Oops! I’ll try NOT to drain your bank account..
Last week a lot of preaching was done about self-love and loving yourself does include caring for your outer, as much as your inner.
While self-love is defined as the acceptance of oneself, learning to become more mindful, learning more about yourself, just to name a few. Whereas, self-care is taking care of ourselves meaning nourishing our body, taking a break, reading a book or an article that makes you happy.
Part of self-care includes beauty routines. I enjoy my very own beauty routine very much because when my skin is taken care of, I feel good. There are a myriad of ways within the beauty routines to take care of yourself. Let’s start giving your skin some TLC by treating yourself with these products that I personally swear by:
#1. Grown Alchemist – Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser
Now, here is one cleanser that actually gets me looking forward to wash my face – Grown Alchemist’s Gentle Gel Facial cleanser: Geranium, Bergamot & Rose Bud. I’m guilty of always opting for gentle gel cleansers. This is because it keeps my skin tender, rejuvenated without drying my skin. This Australian organic skin care product has a beautiful botanical scent and keeps your face soft and hydrated after. The formula includes chamomile, bergamot and willow bark extracts work to shrink pores, reduces redness and Aloe Vera that tones and calms the skin. Ideal for dry, sensitive and combination skin. Though it is pricey, you get your money’s worth because a little goes a long way with this cleanser.
Grown Alchemist’s Gentle Gel Facial cleanser: Geranium, Bergamot & Rose Bud 200ml is available at Kens Apothecary .
#2. The Body Shop – Almond Nail & Cuticle Manicure Oil
Do not ignore your nails! If you’re having similar issues as I am with dry and weak nails that chips off easily, we’ve found the product for you. The Body Shop’s Almond Nail & Cuticle Manicure Oil keeps your nails hydrated and healthy looking. It’s super easy to use as you twist the bottom (like your lip gloss or concealer) and the nourishing oil is then dispensed on to your nails. This effective oil contains almond oil that strengthens your nails and gives them the glow they need. The fact that it’s basically the size of a pen makes it super convenient to carry around.
The Body Shop – Almond Nail & Cuticle Manicure Oil is available at The Body Shop.
#3. Pixi – Glow Tonic
Pixi’s Glow Tonic exfoliating toner is one of the beauty cult’s favourite as it removes dead skin cells and revitalises your (dull) skin. One of the reasons why it’s so effective is because of the ingredients – Glycolic Acid (AHA), aloe vera, and ginseng, amongst others. This toner does lives up to the hype and unlike many others out there, this one is alcohol free, so no more dry skin. If you have never used any acids in your beauty routine before, this toner will be a good introduction. You can start with 2-3 times weekly before moving on to daily use. The Glow Tonic is super ideal for all skin types!
Pixi – Glow Tonic is available at Sephora.
#4. Laneige – Lip Sleeping Mask
Yup, there’s a lip sleeping mask and will work it’s magic while you get catch on some zzzs. Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask contains Hyaluronic Acid to help lock moisture deep into the skin throughout the night and leave your lips feeling plumped and moisturised. My favourite from the range is this delightful Berry flavour but there are three others such as grapefruit, vanilla and apple lime for you to choose from. If you have pretty bad chapped lips, give this a try.
Laniege’s Lip Sleeping Mask (20g) is available at Althea.
#5. Sephora Collection – Hair Sleeping Mask
Look, there’s nothing sexier than rocking a glossy set of hair. No time to head to the hair salon? No worries! Treat yourself to the Sephora’s Coconut Hair Sleeping Mask hydrates and repairs your hair while you’re asleep, so you’re literally saving time. I put this on my dry hair before going to bed and find myself with fabulously moisturised hair when I wake up!
